Both parents were only children. No aunts, uncles or cousins. Never met my grandparents on either side with the exception of my father's mom whom I met at about 3 years old. My parents were divorced when I was 2 and my mother died at home of breast cancer when I was 19. My father wasn't really in my life like he was with my 3 older siblings.

I've been legally blind my entire life and was born with severe scoliosis.


Hit by moving vehicles 5 times.

Survived drowning in riptides twice.

1986 survived a mild heart attack due to drug abuse.

Then add everything else this country will throw at Black American males.

I'm not supposed to be here...Yet my Lord & Savior has Always had His hand on me.




....and that's just the 1st half of life....

Eat Less Sugar I used to be a sugar addict until I was forced to change my habits and eat less sugary but more healthier foods. It was then that I noticed how much clearer my brain functioned. I mean I can literally see farther, focus longer, even a higher tolerance for pain. (this is just me) One good idea would be to replace sugary foods with fruit. Fruit is still sweet, but it isn't processed sugar. These days, blueberries, blackberries and raspberries are my personal substitute for candy. Also, starches like bread, pasta, potatoes and rice can also have the same affect on your body as eating sugar directly. There is no substitute for fresh vegetables. How do you define "Innovative Thinking"?  How many times have you heard the term "think outside of the box"? One day while riding the train into work, a young man walked back and forth selling his candy throughout the car.  Now this is not unusual as four out of five days I see at least one person, usually two selling something on the trains.  But this young man had something a little different.  If you weren't interested in his five cent candy he would counter with  "I'm collecting one million pennies in one hundred days, can you help"?  In this post, I'm going to share my thoughts as I walked away from that encounter and why I think this was a smart idea.
