The Good Doctor - pt 1

Image
“ It’s a beautiful evening at the Apple Farm, this is Clark, how can I direct your call ?” “ Hey yea, this is Dr Carl Cut-Me-Up. My wife and I reserved a room for a few days arriving today but it looks like we’re going to be late…... ” Not an unusual phone call in the least, especially when the weather is less than hospitable. It was the beginning of January 2019 and weather on the West Coast was exceptionally wet. Dr Cut-Me-Up had made his reservation months in advance and was a regular guest here at the Apple Farm Inn & Restaurant . An excellent plastic surgeon and respected in his field the good Doctor said he was once again in town to speak and share his knowledge with peers, all while fully enjoying the Secret Vacation he and his wife had been putting off. Unfortunately, a three hour drive turned into almost seven hours of frustration, multiple accidents and constant stop & go. Highway rush-hour traffic in poor weather has a way of testing a person's patie...

A Passion for Learning

Image
In my personal quest to learn and grow in all areas of life I have found that if you explain to many people the habits they will need to gain and habits they will need to drop in order to truly design their lives their way, most people will not believe you. Sadly, the current and past two generations seem to hold this error in thinking.  Imagine living a few hundred years in the past during a time when necessity alone  dictated the need for gaining new skills and abilities much larger than yourself after your formal schooling years had ended. It was the norm and a must simply to survive and everyone did it. If you were lucky enough you could be born into a family that owned books or maybe get a job working for a printer.  But wait, general schooling usually didn’t involve girls. Most females were not provided a disciplined classroom education.  But that doesn’t mean people without general schooling didn’t grow in education, intellect or ability. Abigail ...

Do  What You Love & the Money Will Come....Really!? Several people I've known personally have made comments to me about this statement and the use of it in my book RISE ABOVE THE ORDINARY. Understandably, the true point at its base level was not made, but that wasn't the purpose of the book. The purpose is to provide ideas on certain habits that a disenfranchised individual can adopt in order to change their lives and further become who God intended that person to be. Let's break this down . "What is the one thing that you do so well and enjoy doing so much that you would gladly do it for FREE?"  OK, so you have found your passion or at least, something that can put you on the right path. There are two simple rules necessary in order to make a living from your passion. Now keep in mind, both rules have multiple levels and vary based on what your passion is and who you are. REJECTION REJECTED…Whether a child belittled by an older sibling or a senior citizen snubbed by the local punk-kid cashier, we all deal with rejection throughout our lives. No one I’ve ever met obtains enjoyment from being turned down, turned away or simply told no. The scars that can remain over time could be at least in part, responsible for our slow and stumbling progress.  Rejection or how we allow the follow up feelings from rejection to affect us can leave lasting damage to our self-esteem which intern will impede our forward progress in life. The center of our feelings of rejection stem from who and how we define ourselves.  This is our identity. The topic of Identity is for another time.  However, you may want to consider who or what are you comparing yourself to and thus attempting to seek approval from?  Is it what your parents, friends or coworkers thought of you? Or is it about status and how much money you earn or the image you portray? ...
